It is always best to come into your Cleveland OH newborn photography session fully prepared! I know there is so much to think about when you’re a new mama. So, I wanted to ensure you had a quick little checklist of how to prepare for the special day! It’s important that we talk about what style photoshoot you are wanting and what you should bring. Don’t stress though! Here are a few helpful tips on how to get the most out of your luxury newborn photo shoot with me!
When you are finalizing the details for your shoot, make sure you know the location of where the studio is. You should also be aware of what time the session starts. This way you’ll have the full time for your newborn session. This helps with planning for you so you know how many outfits you can change them into during the shoot. It’s also important to confirm what props are allowed (really anything that makes your little one happy!). These can be any swaddles, outfits, baskets/bassinets, jewelry, toys or accessories! Another detail to confirm would be if you are only photographing your baby or adding in siblings, and parents. Knowing how many people to expect at a shoot will help with timing since it will take time to move or rearrange other people in the shot as well. If you come with all this prepared your session will be amazing and run smoothly.
Now of course, with having a new baby at home, how much rest is your family actually getting? Most likely very little, but it is always good to try to get as much rest in before your shoot! This can be either the day before or day of your shoot pending the time. That way, everyone coming will look flawless and rejuvenated! This is especially true for your newborn baby and siblings. Making sure they are well rested will add to the smoothness of your newborn photoshoot. Since we all know a cranky baby or toddler is hard to calm down when they are tired, getting appropriate sleep is highly recommended. Don’t worry though, I am an excellent baby whisperer!
Don’t worry though, even if you didn’t get your preferred amount of sleep, I do offer hair and makeup services the day of your photoshoot! I can guarantee that even if you’re feeling a little slugish, you don’t look it on camera! I also have plenty of snacks to help get those energy levels up!
Of course your diaper bag of baby goodies is an absolut necessity! Make sure you have your bag packed with spare clothes for you, baby and siblings; swaddles, milk/formula, anything extra you may need to help during your newborn photoshoot. Newborns are not an exact science though. So, it is always better to be prepared for anything that can happen in a newborn shoot. Make sure to bring their favorite stuffies or toys in case they are having a difficult time!
Keep in mind that I do keep my studio fully stocked with diapers, wipes, swaddles, outfit changes, and various props for your shoot. So, you don’t need a bag. However, it can be helpful and keep you at ease for your special day! I just ask that you let me know if there’s anything specific you want to use from your own home in the shoot so I can plan accordingly!
Lastly, make sure you come to have fun, this is yours and your baby’s moments to shine! Make the best of your session because newborns only stay newborns for a short period of time! So enjoy this time to capture their cute little fingers and toes on camera. Have fun with cute outfits and props, let their older sibling hops in and have fun as well! Build some memories with them that will last forever and be captured during your newborn photoshoot. Make sure to schedule your consultation with me. I can’t wait to meet you and your little one!
